Lower Taxes AND Eliminate "Pork"
To ensure our economy is strong, Congress must make tax cuts permanent, eliminate wasteful/Pork Barrel government spending and reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy. Only then will we be able to balance the budget and not pass massive debt onto our children. The federal government spends too much of our hard-earned tax dollars and taxes all of us too much to pay for Congress’ extravagant spending. Individuals and families should be able to choose how they spend their own money, not government bureaucrats in Washington.

Protect America AND Win The War On Terror/Iraq
Al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorist groups want to destroy our way of life. Long before 9/11, Islamic terrorists, Al Qaeda and other groups declared war on us by killing Americans, blowing up our embassies, and attacking our military personnel. We must stay on offense in the Terrorists’ War on Us, oppose state sponsors of terror, and stabilize the Middle East by demanding that Iraqis do more for themselves.

Affordable, Accessible And Portable Health Care
America has the finest health care system in the world, but it could be even better. To make health care in America affordable, accessible and portable, we must: 1) harness the power of the private sector and free markets to dramatically lower healthcare costs through competition, 2) eliminate abusive and frivolous lawsuits that increase health care costs and put doctors out of business, and 3) stop health insurance companies from denying coverage due to pre-existing conditions or other discriminatory practices. I reject Democrats’ plans to impose socialized medicine, which would create a costly and inefficient federal bureaucracy that will drastically increase costs and decrease the quality and availability of health care services.

End Illegal Immigration – No Amnesty
To protect our communities and end illegal immigration, we must immediately secure our borders by completing the Mexican border fence and tripling the number of border patrol officers. I oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants since rewarding criminal behavior is wrong. All visitors to the United States and all legal immigrants should be issued a biometric, tamper-proof ID card so we can keep track of all noncitizens within our borders.

Ensure A Secure Retirement For All Americans
American seniors deserve a secure retirement. I will work to ensure that all generations of Americans have a safe and prosperous retirement by preserving America’s Social Security system. I OPPOSE privatizing Social Security, raising the retirement age, or lowering benefits. The government must deliver on its promises. I support increasing the amount that workers, non-working spouses, and families can contribute to IRAs and 401(k) retirement programs tax-free to help families help themselves.

Mandatory Sentences For Crimes Against Children And Seniors, And Crimes Committed With A Firearm
I support mandatory, extensive prison time for criminals who prey on our most vulnerable citizens – children and seniors. I will also fight for stiff mandatory sentences for any criminal who uses a firearm during the commission of a crime, a step that will lower the number of violent crimes in America and make us safer.

Promoting Recreational Green And Open Space, Fighting The Effects Of Suburban Sprawl
I will work to improve our quality of life here at home by fighting to preserve recreational green and open space and encouraging smart growth to decrease the negative effects of suburban sprawl and traffic congestion. We must “think before we build” to avoid increasing the congestion on our already clogged roads and minimize damage to local eco-systems.

Drastically Decrease Our Dependence On Foreign Oil And Develop Alternative Fuels
We must remove the strangle hold foreign dictators have over our energy supply. In Congress, I will work to drastically decrease America’s dependence on foreign oil by developing domestic oil and natural gas reserves, increasing the production capacity of American refineries and encouraging research into clean coal and environmentally-friendly alternative fuels such as solar, gas, hydrogen and wind energy. I strongly support increasing automobile fuel efficiency standards and oppose drilling in Lake Michigan.

Ensuring A Quality Education For All Our Children
A quality education is a fundamental civil right for all our children. In order to make American education the best it can be, the federal government must cooperate with the states to ensure full funding for quality educational programs, reform ‘No Child Left Behind,’ and allow parents to choose the school that best fits their child’s needs. To facilitate school choice, school vouchers should be available for families who decide to send their children to private schools or to public schools outside of their school district. This model of school choice would both increase the funds available for high quality, successful public and private schools, and spark innovation in our educational system.
